Farmer's Markets are getting HOTTER!

Last week's Camas Farmer's Market sure was a hot one!

The market managers were so nice and let all the vendors have little spray misters just so we could stay cool in the HOT heat!

Here are some pics of the July 7 Camas Farmer's Market:

Our New Lawn Mower!

Hello again everyone!

Well, after our last riding lawn mower bit the dust, and I was tired of using the push lawn mower, we decided to purchase a new John Deere riding lawn mower!

We are so excited for our new addition to our farm!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Well, I managed to post a blog about Greenhouses on a day where "Green" is in style!

The sun is shining, and it's a beautiful day...the greenhouse is well, still in the process...but every little bit helps!

Here are the latest pics of the greenhouse in the works:

This is the first pic...just getting started

...And this is the second pic...more progess!
(that's the farm mascot "Rudy" by the way!)

The trick about greehouses is you need to get the leveling right, or they just won't withstand anything...especially where we live where the wind blows like nothing I've ever seen!

We're supposed to be recieving very soon 500 flats of plants that I ordered! I'm so thrilled, but I just hope that the greenhouse will be completed by then!

We also got a load of lovely dirt to start plantin' our plants in!

Wish us luck!

A New Year...A New Blog!

Since this is a start to the new year, I decided it was about time to create a blog for my Lavender farm, "Lacamas Lavender." Allow me to fill you in about my farm in case you are new and just getting to know it first hand!

My family and I begun Lacamas Lavender Farm in early 2003 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I read quite a few books, and came across the herb Lavender that appeared to have homeopathic healing opportunities to those that were ill. I quickly became entransed by this herb, and the tilling was underway!

We wanting to start small, but after configuring the plans for where the Lavender was to be planted, the planning actually turned into a 700 order! Changes were being made every second.

As I started chemotherapy and after radiation, my love for this herb grew stronger everyday. I found myself outside most of the day, enjoying all what I could before nightfall.

I am happy to say that I have been cancer-free for 7 years now, and plan to keep myself that way. Our Lavender farm has more than tripled in those 7 seven years.

Here are pictures to show the dramatic, and encouraging changes:

...And just last year!
